meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz and glenn, i know you've been saying this is not really coming together as much as we thought it might. >> that's right. that would limit the potential, so it's not going to be a monster snowstorm like remember the one we got in january. it's late in the season and people may not be expecting it after temperatures in the 60s today. well, the drive home is just fine right now. but it may be a different drive at times during the day on sunday because the visibility is going to be so much lower. this is an area of moisture extends quite a distance from missouri into the gulf of mexico. it's going to end up as a coastal storm, a nor'easter. but it does not look like it's going to come together soon enough to create an intense one. it will be providing enough moisture and enough cold air to produce many hours of snow during sunday and into sunday evening perhaps. the timeline some could start even before daybreak.
6:01 pm
it would be generally light, it would be perhaps a mix of rain or snow and would melt the original temperatures at the start of this is going to be well above freezing. now, as we go through the day and gets a little heavier at times it could stick at some points during the storm. it could reduce the visibility as well. especially into the evening hours. more on the timing and how much to expect with the seven-day in a few minutes. thinking about snow, not what people had on their minds to do but you got to due what you got to do. cydney long is joining us live from lafayette hills. >> reporter: i can tell you people are thinking about lawn mowers, not snow blowers, so among all of the tulips and the easter flowers the hardware store, they went back in the shed, look what they found. bringing these guys back out for sale. >> i hope it is a complete blow over. i do not want any more winter. >> mixed reaction on what has

6:17 pm
for a lot of folks, going to be happy that a lot of it is going to melt as it falls. we've got sunshine out there across a good bit of the area. 63 degrees, still windy, gusting to 28 miles an hour now. and it's 5 degrees warmer than it was at this time yesterday. and yesterday was kind of mild. in the upper 50s to the low 60s. at the moment. 62 degrees in wilmington. 63 in millville and also in dover. we also got to the 60s right at the beaches, because of the west wind, that's the land breeze. 64 for the high but only in the 40s tomorrow. only in the 30s on sunday. 40s on monday and then the temperatures go back up. so this is a temporary thing. you can see the light showers even now they are weakening as they head toward the poconos, a lot of moisture to our west. and the midwest down toward the gulf coast. it's not going to quite get together in time to produce an intense storm here. will be a storm, and there will
6:18 pm
be moisture coming in from the atlantic. it may start off as rain but colder air is coming in gradually over the weekend and that means should be changing to snow over much of the region at some point during the day on sunday. the later you go during the day, the more likely it is to be snowing. so here we are saturday, 10:00. it's plenty mild. look at that 42 in philadelphia. then, as we go into the morning hours, precipitation starting, but the temperature is way above freezing. there's snow. noon time on sunday, the darker blue indicating some heavier snow but the temperature is still above freezing. as long as these temperatures are like that it's going to keep melting. unless you get a little burst of heavier snow, you have slippery conditions for a while. low visibility, causing some problems. but overall, not a gigantic storm. mainly rain toward the shore why it's less than one inch though it could change to snow later on
6:19 pm
during the day. the snow changing to a mix and then back to snow, from philly south and east but a lot of melting. limiting the snowfall amounts to 1 to 3 inches. and more snow and closer to the freezing temperatures to the north and west. giving them up to 3 to 5 depending on again those temperatures. a chance of an early shower, then clearing, 36 degrees for the low. tomorrow it should be dry, the clouds thickening, temperature only in the mid to upper 40s. then even colder on sunday with the rain and snow, then a lot of hours of snow, probably looks worse than it will turn out to be because of the temperature. then on monday it's windy and cold. tuesday starts off cold, then look at the warm-up the rest of the week. back into the 70s.
